Hey

I'm looking for a step up from my current set up, which is:

7 Velodyne CHT's

Bic H-100 Sub

I use this setup for approximate 30% Games 50% TV 20% Movies - No music at all

I do not really need the sub to shake the house, in fact I rather have it be a quality sounding sub than one that just makes alot of noise.

Any ideas on how to upgrade this setup (IE what would give me the greatest benefit, upgrading Sub/Reciever/Speakers) for under $800?

What is your receiver? If your receiver is an inexpensive HT all in one box unit, well there would be a good place to start. The Bic has a lot of admirers for it's reasonable cost, so to improve here would likely cost you $500+. The little Velodynes make useful satellites, so a new front trio of speakers would make the most cost effective improvement for you HT setup IMHO.

Good luck

IMHO....Velodyne does moderately priced subs as well as anyone. That would be my first suggestion for a system upgrade first. I would keep the Bic and run the CC output through it to the CC speaker (one side sums the signal on mine); set to large and enjoy the control over cc low mid. You can't have too many subs and gain control over the air you push, esp at lower volume settings.

My Reciever is a Panasonic SA-XR55. It may be wise and cost effective to make an upgrade to a reciever that has 3 HDMI 1.3 outputs, 1 for my Blu-Ray Player, one for the Xbox, and another for the DTV Box. However, Is an upgrade sound-quality wise from this unit necessary?

Can you elaborate on what is the CC output? Im confused at your statement, I just have my Sub wire running from the Sub to the reciever right now

^- I agree, I'd suggest looking at the front 3 speakers.

As far as an upgrade from the front 3 speakers, what would you guys suggest that are in the same dimensions (size wise bookshelf speakers) as the Velodynes?

Thanks!
