"Actually new generation Plasma TVs will move the image on the screen slightly (not noticeable by the human eye) "

what exactly is this? I don't see how that could work, but somebody posted this at another forum.. It is not like all the pixels are different, typically you have fields of a color so shifting slightly would still a majority of the time leave the same colors in the same location..

This is already being done on many sets. The set I currently have has this feature. It just simply moves the picture over, or up.etc., two or three pixels every so often, depending on how you have it set(how often to move and how many pixels to move). You can vary the movement to suit yourself. You cannot see the change when it is moved.

so obviously if there is a large white patch or something it still wouldn't really help, correct? I mean you will still have a general area of white or whatever color the object is.. So it kind of helps but not a 100% fix ,well fix isn't the corrrect word?

The most noticeable thing about burn in are the edges. The orbit function scoots things around periodically so the edges aren't burned in so hard.

It is however somewhat noticeable to the human eye.

ok, I see, thanks.. I'm not planning on buying one but I just like to learn about the new technologies.

If it is noticeable is it kind of annoying, or do some people notice while others do not.

Can you disable it if you want? I'm sure the best way to avoid burn in is buy following the common rules in the first place

On the new LG's, it's easy to switch it on or off. On the older Pioneers, it was also easy to do....

Just some data.
