Adam Professional Audio - ever hear of these?

Hello,

I've been contemplating what to do with a pair of vintage 1980 ESS AMT 1b Monitors that have been packed away and just sitting in storage. I'm not quite ready to give them up as I still like the sound quality of the AMTs. One possibility is to take the Heil AMT tweeters and (attempt) to build a new, smaller speaker system using today's mid/bass driver technology. BTW, ESS is still in business, still using the same designs and haven't moved on to improving the AMT or better matching a low frequency driver to it.

Anyway, in researching the web I came across other forums discussing AMT and ribbon technology and found several manufacturers, mostly in Europe that have implemented some type of AMT drivers in their design. One that caught my attention was a line by Adam Professional Audio:

Anyone heard any of the offerings by this company? Having search this forum I didn't see any past mention of them.

They look pretty awesome and they are very expensive. Check the prices on these babies. The tower speaker is $12,000! They come with a 10 year warranty though. Also that $12,000 is for one I believe not a pair. I say if you got the money go for it. I sure as hell wish I did I'd buy em up in an instant. J.H.
If I were to seriously consider these, it would have to be the smaller monitors. But they do look impressive, as does the read on them. Wish I could hear them locally (Minneapolis).
Yeah the smaller speakers are doable for me but the towers are $12,000 each making it $24,000 a pair! The smaller ones look inpressive. I can't find any information on dealers in the US. Do you have a link or information on US dealers? J.H.
No dealer info, just the distributor listing in California on the website. Might give them a call sometime next week just to see if there is a dealer within driving distance.
After a little more research, I was suprised to see the Tymphany Corp. has a bass driver similar to that used in the ESS Transar of the 1981 circa.

I'd like to see Adam Professional or ESS come up with some products with

a full AMT design, a Heil AMT and Tymphany LAT.

With all due respect, the Heil tweeters weren't all that. I'd either hold on to them for nostalgia's sake (assuming they still work) or see if you can get someone to bite on them for a premium on ebay or audiogon if they're in very good condition.
Heil drivers may not have been the greatest, but the newer variations used on speakers such as the Oskar Kithara are truely amazing. tricell-ent(dot)com/Oskar.htm (cant post links yet)

They might be the answer for you if you want that type of sound. Not sure their prices, but i think its from 2500 or so to 6000 depending on models.

I respect your opinion. I still like the detail the spatial imaging the Heil produces in 2-channel music listening, only to be wanting in lower midrange and bass. However, selling them on eBay is certainly an option as I look for replacements.

Thanks for the suggestion. Yep, I read some of the write-ups on them. Kithara's are out of my price range but the Aulos are a possibility. I'm curious to compare the refinements out of these new drivers to the old Heils, let alone better bass and midrange performance from the rest of the system.
