I am buying some stuff from Monoprice and I thought I'd buy either a cable or an adapter for DVI-D since the shipping cost will be the same.

I'd prefer to buy just an adapter for HDMI to DVI-D since I already have an HDMI cable and it would be cheaper than buying a whole DVI-D cable, however Monoprice seems to only sell Single Link adapters http://www.monoprice.com/products/pr...seq=1&format=2 and from what I understand it's advantageous to use Dual Link for higher refresh rates (and resolutions although it probably wouldn't apply in my case.)

So my question is, is it advantageous to have an adapter for HDMI to DVI-D Dual Link? Or will HDMI only do Single Link when adapting to DVI-D?

The monitor I have is a Samsung 2253LW: http://www.newegg.com/product/produc...82E16824001271 and this is the video card I have: http://usa.asus.com/product.aspx?P_ID=CIZSDULRZI4VCsZ8

Please let me know, thanks!

Dual-link DVI is meaningless; only Type B HDMI requires it, which does not exist (yet).
