I have started a petition to get LG to add this feature to older oled models as HDR game was add to 2016 sets .
It’s a new feature on the 2018 models only at this point.
Sports lovers and news channel addicts will greatly appreciate this safety feature as they are most a risk of screen burn .

LG call the feature
“Logo Luminance Adjustment”
Adjust the luminance of static images such as logos within content to correct potential picture quality issues.
This feature can be switched on or off just like pixel shift can be .

If you feel this is a feature you would like to see on your oled tv please sign the petition below .

Lg older models already dim static logos.
Whats new about this feature from the 2016-2017 models? Maybe more control on how much ot can be dimmed? I know this setting can be turned off but only in the service menu.

Im not sure where you heard that but they do. Maybe its not as aggressive as the 2015 sets but it does. I have seen my e6 do this lots while gaming. I have a 2016 e6 in my living room and a 2017 b7 in my bedroom. I have never seen my b7 do it but i do not game on it.

My 930 used to do it but my 950,c6,e6 and c7 never have .
If they did why are LG only just adding to 2018 sets now

Its called asbl i believe in the service menu. Its hard to spot. I see it kick on with forza all
The time in the sky. The sky around the area being dimmed gets darker. If i press into another meni i can see that spot dimmed for a second then it goes back to normal. I dont see it with most games maybe its harder to trigger on the 2016 sets.

The 2015 models did do it and you could not adjust it. That's why a petition came out in 2015 asking LG to remove it, because gamers did not like the dimming HUD's. Probably why LG removed it from the 2016 models, and then brought it back in 2018 where you can adjust to your liking.

That gradually dims the entire screen after 105 seconds with a static image. Completely different then just dimming the logo.

Never noticed it on my 950 , the option to switch it on or off was all they needed to do and not remove it completely on 2016 -2017 sets , these older sets need this option IMO
I would like this feature on my C7 having seen enough screen burnt sets from logos and banners .

I agree. I hope they do add the option to older tv's. but I have no faith in LG doing that.

Thats odd i wonder what im seeing then. I was playing just cause 3 today and when I hit the playstation button the blue screen came on and in the areas of hud it had dimmer spots.

That’s image retention from the huds , when you change the screen it will appear darker where the oled pixels have had more use .
They will return to normal luminance after a screen clear cycle but in time it will burn in to your screen as the sub pixel wear .
This new feature will help with that so I would sign the petition if I was you .

Signed. Every 2016 and 2017 owner needs to sign this. My C6 will dim a stationary scene...but not pieces of imagery within a moving screen. And that translates into burn in as we all know, sooner or later.

LG would be wise to do this. 2016 and 2017 owners manuals did not have all the warning that are now in the 2018 manuals. I know for a fact I will sue them if my TV gets BI for not properly warning me. Perhaps they may wish to avoid the costs of a lawsuit?
