I just finished building my new HTPC and realized it is missing firewire :/ I had planned on using this to stream my cable/HDTV for MythTV use. Does anyone know if there is a USB adapter for firewire or something I can mount internally like SATA? I don't have any PCI or PCI-E slots available.

What board are you using?

Nowadays, boards have onboard firewire connectors. If your board has the pins then all you have to do is buy the bracket (ebay) and hook it up.

Thanks for the responses guys... looks like the board does not have onboard firewire at all. Ah well, I was going to try to see what channels I would get via the firewire port on comcast but I read it wasn't many anyways. Looks like I am going to go with the Hauppauge HD PVR 1212 sooner rather than later

What do you have in the PCI slots now?

yea, all the internal Firewire controllers are all PCI based. I don't know of any Firewire controllers that are PCI based. There are USB and Firewire PCI-E cards, but the controllers on the cards are still PCI...there's a PCI to PCI-E bridge chip to make them work.
