Last night Adelphia decided to upgrade the firmware on my cable box. But it appears they've messed it up. The box just keeps loading firmware, and booting and looping. I called Adelphia, and they say it's a problem in the area.


I've been waiting for the upgrade to enable DVI Since I got the box, now I've got nothing. I've got friends coming over this evening to watch the RedSox in HD. I hope they get ix fixed soon!


Anyone else been through this with Adelphia, or another provider? How long did it take to resolve the issue?

I had the same problem w/ Adelphia on Monday. I called customer service and yelled at them. They assured me that the issue would be resolved for Monday night prime-time, which of course didn't happen until Tuesday morning (or possibly midnight, when they normally do "upgrades"). I don't notice anything different, so I assume that they went back to the previous version of the firmware. You might be able to find out what the firmware upgrade adds by calling customer service, though.

I didn't notice the problems Monday with my 8000HD but I can't wait for the upgrade. It is nice to know they are working on it so it may come soon.


Do you have any info on when Adelphia is going to add more HD channels?

Well the box is up now, but I don't have VOD. To be honest, I haven't tried VOD in weeks, with all the baseball and football action lately, my TV time has been spoken for.

On further review, the picture is noticably sharper. Other than than, I can't find any differences.

My VOD was out Tuesday morning, but turned back on in the afternoon. I checked it a couple of hours ago and it seems to be working fine. I'm not sure about when Adelphia will be adding any more HD channels. From what I've read about the broadcast channels, we probably won't be getting many of them for a while. I'd absolutely love to get Discovery HD, but have no idea what Adelphia's plans are. It's really hard to find out from customer service, because they know less than we do. When I first got their HD service, the customer rep assured me that I would automatically get all the local stations in HD, even though none of them were broadcasting in HD!

I have gotten the same response from Adelphia CSRs about the local HD channels. They are about worthless when it comes to programming information. The last I heard from them is that they hope to have more HD channels by February. Whether or not this is true remains to be seen. I would really love Discovery HD also.

I'm in Hudson, NH. I am fed out of the Londonderry head end. I didn't have any problems other than my normal digital snow.


Oh yeah, I did have some synch problems. My son was upstairs watching the Sox on another regular tv. He was cheering and we didn't know why. I had to go upstairs and ask him what he was watching! He was a full 2-3 minutes ahead of my wife and I on the HDTV!


I'm still seeing some lip synch problems on all digital channels. I may turn my box in for another tomorrow. I've had a tech check my cabling. He gave it the okay.
