Has anybody tried the high quality antenna preamps

from a company called Advanced Receiver Research for

DTV reception?

They make GaAsFet preamps with a noise figure of

0.5 dB and 40 MHz bandwidth in the UHF region. Price

about $120. And the overload performance is outstanding.

This noise figure is 2 dB better than the best other

ones I have seen, which could be a really big difference

for extreme fringe reception with a clean signal.

These things have a very good reputation for the

432 MHz ham band.

These ARR amps are usefull in the 450 and 950 radio auxiliary bands.

However, they are so sensitive they have the tendency of picking up

unwanted signals and they are relatively narrow band. You may want

to call and talk to one of their technicians to see if they produce an amp

suitable to your purpose.
