I just read yesterday's sales ad and saw the Advent on sale. Not sure what the MSRP is, but it is currently priced under 400 smackers. What do you guys think? Cash or trash?

Advent makes probably the worst HD TVs. You get what you pay for. They're a speaker manufacturer, and those aren't so hot either.

From what I’ve read, if you tweak the hell out of the service menu, (some people have got theirs to look pretty good just by adjusting the standard brightness/contrast settings) it seems to be a pretty good TV --but that’s if it lasts more then an hour--.


One guy even said the PQ was better then his 27†Hi-def Panny once he fiddled with it. . But even with all of the tweaking, it still seems to have quite a bit of geometry issues due to its extremely underpowered power supply.


If you like taking risks (and tweaking settings in service menus), then I’d say go for it!

But if you want a good quality dependable HDTV, start saving your money.

If you live in the South FL or Atlanta, GA area BrandsMart USA has the Zenith 27" C27V22 HDTV for under $300 & it's a far better set than the Advent. A friend of mine just picked one up for his bedroom & loves it.

That's what I have, it's awsome, I couldn't love it more.

I paid $600 for mine! But that was a year ago.

Went into K-wart tonight just to get a looksee and now they've got a 30-incher with DVI. I thought these may be rebadged Sanyos, but they have no built-in HD tuners.

I saw a Samsung 26" 16:9 HDTV at Target too.

Advent is a speaker company, so i would'nt really trust their tv sets, especially for reliability.To me, these are the worst looking i have seen.Their speakers are'nt that great either.


If you want to see messed up picture, look at the toshiba 30hf84, it has geometry that is all over the place.It looks like someone took a baseball bat and gave it a whack.
