Hello -

I have a question about adding a sub to my to-be 5.1 setup.

Just purchased a set of energy rc-10s with the lc-cr center. The idea is to add energy rc-70s soon.

This all goes into a garage being converted to a man-cave. So large room with poor acoustics. It has had additional insulation etc

Use will be a mix of Ht and music.

I was going to buy a bic or klipsch sub to go with this setup but just saw a couple of svs systems go on sale.

My movie watching will not be at loud volumes to keep neighbors and sleeping kids happy. With that in mind two questions:

1. Does it make sense to plunk down an additional $400 for an svs given the low / medium volume of play?

2. If yes, is svs a good match with the energy fronts.

Subwoofers dont have to match speakers so any brand/model will do.

What do you mean an extra $400 for SVS? What subs are you looking at?

I wouldnt spend the extra money for the SVS and I wouldnt go with a sealed sub anyway. The Bic PL200 should do fine.

The pb12 is a better sub than the pl200. If you can easily afford it get that.

I agree. You'll get better SQ, and you don't have to run it loud just because it has the capability of getting loud.
