Just moved into new apartment. Am looking for advice for a new receiver. It will be used 75% home theatre use 25% music use. Important to me: Ability to input audio/video via hdmi (and is upscaling that important if i'll be using comcast hd and blu ray upconverting dvd?), i think i'll use a 5.1 speaker setup vs. 7.1, reputable piece that will last at least 10-15 years. hope to be in 400 to 800 price range. Thanks in advance.

10-15 year lifespan is a bit tough considering how fast technology moves. I just picked up the Onkyo TX-SR705 which I think is a pretty future proof receiver. HDMI switching, decodes HD audio, 7.1 preamp outputs, and has a pretty nice amplifier section. I'd also look at last year's Marantz 7001 on clearance if you don't need decoding for TrueHD/DTSHDMA.
