Advice: Need stereo amp for ceiling speakers, stream, network, etc

I have 3 pair of ceiling speakers in my new home. 2 pair inside and a set in the backyard.
I want to be able to play different music inside and outside. Many of the stereo receivers I have seen have A/B speaker switches but not different zones.
I can't find a good receiver match to accomplish separate music sources. I suppose I could go with a multi-zone AVR but that seems wasteful. My neighbor has 3 SONOS Amps driving his! Too expensive for my budget!

Also, if I connect both pairs of inside speakers to 'A' and the outside to 'B', I'll basically cut the power to the inside speakers in half (double the resistance, halve the power).

Another oddity is each speaker set has a volume control on the wall but I am convinced the speakers are unpowered.

I have looked at a few stereo receivers like the Yamaha R-N303 but am reasonably sure you can't play different sources on A and B speakers.

Thoughts?

Another item. I have a Denon AVR 2500 for my theater setup. It has HEOS. Could I get a Denon HEOS enable stereo receiver and have them 'talk' to each other for streaming?

I’d love to know what you decided. I have the exact set-up as you in our new home. Ironically, we came to the house with a boatload of beloved HEOS speakers. The Denon receiver I purchased is for home theater rather than 3 pairs of basic but nice speakers. We want music and sports in our family room/kitchen and deck - just like you. This receiver has way more functionality that we need. We’d love to keep everything hard-wired via Ethernet rather than run off wifi. Unfortunately, that kills all user friendliness of the HEOS app. Does your Denon remember your various streaming passwords? It feels a bit like a Maserati but with a broken steering wheel. Thanks in advance for sharing your experience.
Sonos is expensive but it works reliably and is super easy to use, which is part of why they've been able to command a premium for so long. Their endpoint prices are practically criminal though since you can get a complete speaker with amp for $99 from IKEA but if you want RCA jacks it's $450 minimum. There are cheaper streaming endpoints like Dayton, Arylic, Allo, etc. which you could combine with a traditional multi-zone amp but will the usability be there?
