Hey guys, I'm wanting to build my first Server/HTPC and would like some feedback on my hardware selection. I've tried to follow Assassins HTPC hardware guide as much as I can, but I'm new to this and would like to check I'm not choosing any incompatible components or if there are better options. I'm in Australia so it can be hard to source some components, I will be purchasing as much as I can domestically.

For starters, what I'm hoping for my system to be able to do is:

- Run media browser server and media browser theatre;

- Locally play and also stream 1080p videos;

- Run a parity backup software such as FlexRAID;

- Connect TV &/or AV receiver via HDMI;

- Act as a file server between connected laptops on the home network;

- Possibly some light gaming if it doesn't require too many upgrades (i.e. dedicated GPU, faster CPU). This would just be a bonus if it can be done cheaply.

Home network will initially be set up on wifi but I am considering using a powerline adapter instead. Is this a better option? Server will be streaming to 2 laptops in my network, and will be connected an AV receiver (Samsung HT-E5550W 5.1ch).

The specs I've chosen so far are listed below:

OS: Windows 8.1 Case: Fractal Design Node 304 Mini ITX/DTX Case USB3.0 / No PSU

CPU: Intel CORE i3 4340/3.60GHz/4MB CACHE/LGA1150 OR Intel Core i5 4570 LGA1150 CPU 3.2Ghz 6Mb Cache Haswell

Motherboard: Asus H87I-PLUS 2xDDR3 PCI-E 6xSATA3 6xUSB3.0 DVI D-SUB HDMI GLAN

OS Drive: Samsung 120GB SSD 840 EVO SATA III 6Gbs 7mm 2.5inch 540MB/410MB

HDDs: 3 x Western Digital Green 3TB Green 64MB SATA 3 WD30EZRX

Memory: Kingston 8G(2x4G) DDR3 1600MHz CL9 HyperX

PSU: unsure here, having trouble finding a suitable modular one

So could I please have some feedback and advice on this build?

Thanks
