I do streaming, network TV, blu-rays...a bit of everything. I can fit a 43 or 49" in my apartment. A decent amount of light

Price is definitely a consideration, as I need to keep it under $500. Looks likes there's a lot of options at that price point; my problem is that I haven't bought a TV in 10 years, and I don't know what to look for. I'm focusing on LG and Samsung due to past experience.

LG UM7300PUA

LG UM6900

Samsung RU7100

Haven't found much on the newer LGs here, though.

Does anyone have any experience with any of these models?

thanks

I would go with the Samsung over the LG for picture quality alone.

Contrast is quite low on the LG vs Samsung due to the use of an IPS panel.

Depending as well on if the LG use RGB displays or their WRGB picture quality will be affected as well.

In same boat. What's the best TV less than 40" wide (so looking at probably 45" or less) with Android TV?
40 or 43, no 45 AFAIK. The 49 or 50s are going to be about 43 wide, better if you can do that width to take advantage of 4K UHD and the features some offer. Hisense 508HF, as mentioned above. TCL 43S517 for smaller.

For 40 to 50, the cheapo companies like Hisense, TCL, Vizio seem to be putting forth more effort. Good luck, have fun, with whatever you decide.:)

Wall space is limited. I need two smaller TVs to flank an 85" TV in my "sports den" so we can watch multiple games. Preferably android TVs because of ease of installing Kodi.

the Samsung RU7100 is similar to the Sam's club set that I purchased 6 weeks ago (2019 Samsung 50RU710D~VA panel) according to Consumer reports.
I returned if for the horrible viewing angles! Less than a foot 'off center' axis in either direction and get a VERY degraded PQ...colors washed out! This is NOT acceptable!

The set I bought since is the 2019 LG 49UM7300PUA~IPS panel is great ...even in a dimly lit room.:)
I followed calibration settings suggested from both www.ConsumerReports.org & www.rtings.com.
:D
