advice on a sub and receiver for my setup

I am setting up a home theater in a 14x18 room in my home. I'm starting with some klipsch 5.1 surround speakers minus the sub. I already have the satellites and the center, but I need a sub and a receiver that is going to be able to get the most out of my speakers.

I have around $1,000 to spend on the sub and receiver together. I have no desire to expand to a 7.1 setup in the future and I will not be using the receiver for ipod connectivity or satellite radio--this is strictly 5.1 home theater. I don't want to spend extra for some bells and whistles I don't need. I do plan on using hdmi for audio, so that is a feature I need. I want a receiver that is going to give me crisp, pure surround. All I want from the sub is really excellent responsiveness and power. Boomy subs with low response time are not for me.

Please make some suggestions for a powerful sub/5.1 receiver combo for under $1,000.

Thanks.

Thanks.

I would go with a quality sealed sub:

And a receiver this one:

The receiver is last years model and is on a great sale.

Still under budget, and I would definitely consider upgrading your mains down the road.
