Snagged a Shuttle SX38P2-Pro off eBay for a song and am hoping it's not a scam. If it turns out to be, oh well. At least I have Pay-Pal protection.

It has a 22x DVD+/-RW w/Double Layer which I think I want to replace with a Blu-Ray Writer. My now old Shuttle XPC is long in the tooth and without BD drive so why not go BD with the new Shuttle?


But which one? I want to keep costs down, but reliability up. No deed for duel layer. Single is fine.


I'll likely delete the Finger-print reader software. In fact, I may wipe the system and install XP Pro. I truly despise Vista.


Opinions? I want to get a nice and reliable BD writer and then slowly start messing about with what it can do.

I have seen it go down $145. The OEM version generally comes with everything that is in the retail version except for the packaging.
