I am considering buying a pre-configured HP media center http://www.futureshop.ca/catalog/pro...85&catid=10607


I would like to know if anyone has any comments on these products. I would also appreciate any comments regarding building a comparable HTPC and if there would be a significant difference in cost.

One of the coolest (and most overlooked) features with HP media centers is the their slick hidden compartment in the front for a hotswappable pullout USB 2.0 hard drive. Make sure you pick up a "media drive" for it. They pull out; and can be plugged into any USB port on another computer. The I/O ports in the front are also very convenient and in a hidden compartment as well. My Media Center also had custom labeling of the HD-DVD/Blue Ray & HD-DVD drives.
