My quest for low end bass that is affordable land me here in DIY. I am looking to spend about $500 to $600 bucks. i am looking at building either a sonotube or boxed sub. i am looking for that low bass that plays load below 20htz. I am looking to build two or one subs. my room is 17 X 25. i sit about 13' from my center channel. I have been reading that most low end subs do not have good mid bass and most that handle good mid bass do not have good low end. Would it make sence to build one of each? I have been looking at Rythmic subs for my build. My build will be for 90%HT and 10%music. Please let me know if you have any other ideas thanks.

Quite a few. It's the recent buzzzz around here. Here are the plans . I'm on my phone right now or I'd post some more links for you, but do a search here for THT builds.

I just built an MK Sound SB-1250 subwoofer, I purchased an M&K sub caninet from Deep Surplus ($88) that they purchased from M&K stock during the bankruptcy auction. I then purchased directly from MK Sound the SB-1250 250W amplifier and new MK Sound Deep Bass woofer, $125 for the MK woofer and $375 for the SB-1250 250W amplifier! The M&K sub cabinet is exactly the same dimensions as the SB-1250, for $588 you can own a $1200 dollar subwoofer!

Regards,

Techlord.
