I was waiting until I could afford all the right components to finish my home theater. But I've been reading all the positive things said about the AE-100 and ********** seems to indicate that it costs US $1363.00. Is this right?

If so, the thought occured to me that, at that price, I could build my HT now and replace the PJ later.

If my thinking is correct, what would you recommend I feed it with?

Only you can answer that question.

When you say replace the projector later, it could be risky if you expect to recover the current going price, you will still lose money on the resale. By time you sell it another unit will be out and know one will want the 100. The same people buying this projector are buying it because it is inexpensive and they will be the first ones to complain if your selling it anywhere near original cost. Especially considering the warranty issue.

IMO keeping the AE100 as a second PJ is the way to go. Nowadays, almost everyone has a second, third or fourth TV. Why not PJ. When time comes to upgrade, the resale value of AE100 might be a little above shipping cost of the unit to your prospective buyer. The consensus in feeding the AE100 seems to be HTPC or the panny rp56 with or without transcoder.

I agree with this.

The cost is so low that when you do upgrade you might as well keep the AE100 as a spare.

It's a great projector to get into the game with and get a feel what what you like, don't like, so you'll be well prepared when it's time to upgrade.

yes it can be.

If you are new to projectors and can sit up to 2x screen away you really should check this one out.

I agree with the resale value going down when new pjs come out, but you can probably sell it on ebay a day after you get it for 90% of what you paid (hmm just checked ebay and it is going for 1600$ directly imported from kwon, interesting)

The one real problem is having a hardware problems and needing to use the japanese warranty.
