AE900 Rebate

2752 Views 30 Replies 24 Participants Last post by  cutman0122
In the process of finishing the basement home theater, and planning on getting the Pan AE900. However, not quite ready foo the projector, but I see the $400 rebate exoires on 5/31/06. Does anyone know if they will extend it? Should I buy it now? Have plenty of other expenses right now, and would have prefered to wait a couple more months.

Help appreciated.

I don't know for sure, but I bought and then returned an AE900 in January and there was a rebate then. If I was betting, I would say they would continue the rebate.
not much to worry about as it w/b very unusual for them to sell it a higher net price into the summer, rebate or not

However, there is a huge advantage to having a projector up and running on a selected basis before the theater design is finished or 100% locked in place, and its now extremely simplified because with HD-DVD nearly everyone can get a clean high performance HD signal to test various configurations

The reason is to test out various setups - e.g possible shelf mounts and various screen, The AE700/900 series has unusual capabilities for placement and in-close viewing options- both of which can effect the ultimate theater design. You can jury rig it temporarily to try to figure out the optimal angles and placements etc
Thanks for the advice, I suppose another month or two will not make that big a difference, I'll order it in the next few weeks. This is getting exciting...

I have not heard any word of Panasonic extending this warranty again. I do believe it has already been extended once and it was suppose to end on 3/31.

I would try to take advantage of the $400 rebate plus the $300 blockbuster gift card before it's too late.
They have been extending and increasing this rebate for over 6 months now. I remember I purchased this late last year when it had the $200 rebate and 40 BB rentals. (Which I received two weeks ago.)

They may extend/increase the rebate again.
Rebate has been going on this projector since first month of sale. I woudln't worry.
I would also say you shouldn't worry - they will keep extending the rebate. The AE900 has strong competition from other LCD players (the Z4) and even DLP (HD72). That competition is also offering strong rebate incentives (free lamps on both counts). If Panny dropped the rebate they would have to significantly drop the price to remain competitive. While consumers like you and me would cheer at not having to play rebate follies to get the net price the manufacturers are too attached to the floats rebates give them and so on.

Bottom line: I'd look for the rebate to remain in place until Panny gets the next model into significant production. Only then will the rebate be dropped along with a price reduction. In the meantime the old adage will likely apply - the longer you wait the more the price will drop. Even with the rebates all three of these competitors are experiencing slow but steady street price drops. Additionally we are still seeing attempts to sweeten the rebates (e.g. the silly free screen that Sanyo just added to the Z4)

I can't`see them stopping the rebate. It's already the slow season, and f they do, it'll kill sales, and they'd have to reinstate it.
I'd buy it at Costco.com, with rebate you are getting it at $1499.
I bought from Abes of Maine (CLICK) and get it for 1440 after the rebate. EDIT: I'm not with Abes of Maine.

Also, does anyone know if the current rebate has an expiration date on the blockbuster card?
Cosco or Abes of Maine will work.

Does Abe charge tax for out of state?
Received this today

"Thank you for your purchase of our Panasonic PT-AE900U projector. We would like to notify you that the expiration date on your recently received Block Buster rental card has been extended from 06/30/06 to 10/31/06. This means that you have an additional 4 months to use your card for Movie or Game rentals at a participating Block Buster store. We look forward to your continued support of Panasonic Products."

Since I received my card I have rented 24 movies and 4 games yet they show only 14 taken out on their system due to them not taking them one off the running total so this card may be worth a lot more in the long run.
I also recieved today the letter stating the the expiration date on the BB card had been extended.
Did they announce previous extensions before the scheduled expiration dates?

I'm leaning towards getting this, but won't need it (or have a place for it) until late June. I'm trying to figure out if I should purchase it early to guarantee getting the rebate or not...
So... any word?

Are we likely to know before the 31st if the rebate will be extended?
Just wanted to bump this, the end of the month is coming soon, and I need to know whether to go for it yet or not.

When I ordered from IL I didn't get tax charged. Also, I'd probably wait until the next rebate comes along.
got my rebate today...Blockbuster card was good until 4/07
This whole rebate thing is keeping me awake at night.

If I place an order online the evening of the 31st, will all my paperwork reflect that order time? I'd hate to have my projector show up with the 1st listed and not get my 400+300 back. I may just have to bite the bullet and put it on the credit card sooner...

Does anybody (ie... industry insider type) have any connections at Panasonic?
