My hatachi takes 1080I and 1080sf from the teranex through the analog rgb input. This means it will also do so through the dvi. I wish there was a hdsdi to dvi convertor to keep the signal direct into the unit from the Teranex. The picture is stunning. I can color correct with the ternex. No need for a filter.

Picture is super clean.

The 5500 is one hell of a unit. It does everything the Dila 150cl does for 1/3rd the cost.

So Alan you believe that it as nice when it is run from a teranex? How does it compare without the teranex? I mean 5500 plus teranex is not 1/3 or JVC 150cl is it? I am a little confused by the comparison.

I have found that when using the RGB inputs on the 5500, that you definately need some kind of color control,(more than just the red/blue gain, in the user menu) as the colors and contrast are definately some what de-saturated,(the component input doesnt suffer from this).I would recomend any one useing this input, try the "DYNAMIC GAMMA", as it gives the RGB input some "PUNCH", in the color and contrast areas.I have not tried it yet, but i suspect a DVI connection would be absolutely stunning on this projector.

To all..yes you must buy a Teranex to enjoy any projector. This is a must have.

Call me right now, Ill keep the line open.

Kidding aside.

No you do not need a teranex although the picture is stunning.

I normally run a sdi dvd player into a htpc using the sdi silk card

and Dscaler for de interlacing and dvi out into the projector.

Picture is unreal. Im running 1024x768.

I was considering the 150 because of its dvi input and 1080sf compatibility.

I now realize I have the same features in a smaller cheaper package.

Isn't 1080sf = 1080i after the HD-SDI to RGB conversion?

Are you talking about 30fps segmented frame or 24fps segmented frame? The former should be 1080-60i while the latter should be 1080-48i after RGB conversion.

Just curious.

1080-48i after conversion...the D/A box does the conversion.but yes

1080I at 48 is the end result.
