Anyone ever see this before?

Brand New PT-60LCX63. Set up yesterday.

Initial setup everything worked great, no stuck pixels, perfect.

last night at about 1:00AM after running for a few hours the OTA input began pausing every second or so. I though it was the antenna or something from the station.

Now this morning, the freezing is on all inputs except for HDMI.

every other input:

DVD Player - 480P - on Component 1

Xbox - 480i/p - on Component 2

VCR - 480 i - on Video 2

OTA Digital - 1080i - on Ant-A

video will play for about a second, it will freeze for a split second and play and freeze and...

Looks like a de-interlacing issue (3:2 Pulldown or something) but a lot more pronounced.. I cannot figure it out.

My question is:

Could it be a setting a accidentaly set while setting up or wiring problem?

Could it be a bad TV?

Anybody ever see something like this on thier TV?

Is there a way to factory reset the set to make sure I didnt hit something I shouldn't have?

Appreciate any help. Im dreading having to box thing back up and returning it.

A factory reset would only really work if you had made changes to the service menu. Your problem doesn't sound like a "setting" maladjustment of any kind. Every input? Hate to say it, but I'd take it back. Was this a Costco purchase by any chance?

Well the problem started after I "looked at" the service menu. I didn't make any changes, but I looked through the settings. Later I saw the problem. Which is whay I thought i may have unknowingly hit something.

Its on every input but the HDMI, which is my HD DirecTivo, that is fine.

and yes, this was a Costco special. When I was in htere, the guy said, "Is this TV a good deal, becasue we sold 5 in the last 24 hours." I got the last one.

Well, sounds like you probably screwed it up then. Someone else will have to chime in about resetting it-I don't have any of my manuals at work. I thought the reset option was on one of the service menus? You may have nothing to worry about-just reset it and try it out for a day or so to make sure. I've heard of other people accidentally making changes in the service menu, so don't feel bad(if that is really the case).

On the main menu of "Factory" mode there is an option labeled "Default Set", highlight that and hold down OK for about 7 seconds until it blinks and an "OK" label appears. That will reset both user and service menu items.

Joe

Edit: changed the labels to the correct terms.

I noticed your post in a different thread...you think this might have to do with your tv acting up?

Just remember to use a bit more caution the next time you go into the service menu. I guess I just got lucky because I just jumped right into it and started changing a few things, with no ill effects.

I used the service menu adjustments extensively on my old Mits.

I was just seeing what was there.

It all seems OK now.. but Im watching it.

Hopefully the service menu will help me with:

slight overscan, (very acceptable)

slight convergence issue (Anyone know if this can be adjusted on this set?)

red push

Black levels (Id like them to be a lttle blacker)

Other than that the TV is perfect. 720p HD is stunning.

Odd thing, the service menu reset did NOT fix the issue, (Thanks JoePerri) but the NEXT time i went in and out of the Factory menu, it seemed to fix itself.

strange.. It seemed like it was stuck in a menu option, but there was nothing on the screen indicating it was in a menu.

Ah new technology!
