Akeelah and the Bee

So much attention has been devoted to the United 93 movie. I have seen it. I recommend it to everyone for its intelligent dramatization of heroism during this tragic event.

However, please make every effort to see Akeelah and the Bee. It's a wonderful movie about a young girl finding self-esteem and confidence through a spelling bee competition. It's a heartwarming movie for the family but it is a great date movie. The young lady playing Akeelah is marvelous.

It reminded me for Searching for Bobby Fischer but it's deserving of much praise on its on right

I also have heard great things about this film. We are looking forward to seeing it soon.
Very well made movie even if it was a little predictable. Good acting and good story. Definately a must see especially with pre-teen or teenage kids.
Its website says its PG for "some language". Can anyone comment on the type and frequency of questionable language used? I'm wondering if this movie would be appropriate for a young 5yo.

Thanks,

Eric
I don't recall any foul or offensive language during the movie.

by the way, I'm not sure if a 5 year old will be able to understand the movie, but good luck anyway.
Bit rough for really young kids in my opinion, but then I like to shelter mine ;)
