Alon Thunderbolt Subwoofer?

Hmmm, I guess I feel into hearsay tonight, but I have an audiophile buddy who swears it's the fastest, cleanest music sub he's heard. Again, haven't heard it, but he swears by it. He's auditioned a lot of high-end subs, but not the ones I'm familiar with. NHT Evolution and Genesis are good ones too. I like acoustic suspension and/or servo. The Thunderbolt is neither, but it comes well-recommended.

That basically the same thing my Audio shop guy has told me. I'm going to audition it on Tuesday with my set-up. I was wondering what I should compare it with, the only local brands I have access to are Velodyne, RBH and Def. Tech.(and Alon, of course) I've read great things about SVS and HSU on this forum but I hate to buy something blind without a chance to audition it first. 2 channel music is a great concern of mine. My current sub is very fast and does well with both HT and music but it's a 10"er. My room is 16' X 32' and the 10" sub just doesn't fill that space the way I want it too. I will probably keep it and use it as a rear sub for HT.
