I'm getting sick of all these people talking about how incredible their machines are. Are there any people out there with any issues they would like to share?

ps. I got mine yesterday. The thing is rediculously good! Watching the Departed tonight after the Sox get done stomping the Braves.

I don't like how picky my HD1000u are about accepting 1280X720X60 via VGA from my HTPC. I have to use DVI->HDMI to get 1280X720X60 in 1:1 mode. Best I could get via VGA was XGA in 1:1 with 4:3 image in the center of the 16:9 panel (pillarboxing).

I also don't like how my HD1000u would not accept 1080p60 from Philips 5982 or Magnavox DP170MS8 via HDMI. It'll do 1080i or 720p fine though. It will do 1080p60 with these 2 players but only transiently and then lose sync.
I was disappointed with the poor picture quality of some video games, but considering the gamecube only outputs through composite, and I'm blowing the picture up from the usual 24 inches to 80 inches or so (4:3), I don't have much reason to blame the HD1000U. It does annoy me that on composite overscan is locked at 93%, but I'm not sure if thats specific to the HD1000U.

Also, I discovered the option of "real" for the gamecube, which made the image a lot clearer at the expense of size. Nevertheless, I chose to keep the image size!

Motion also looks sort of blurry at times, but not bad. My eyes can get sort of tired when watching for a long time, but I'm getting used to it.

Both of these are not projector specific (well, perhaps the motion is, but I don't know that it would be fixed without spending a whole lot more.)

Don't misunderstand me though! I absolutely love my projector, don't have the slightest regret, and would do my best to convince anyone to use a projector (and specifically the HD1000U) if it works for their environment.

Looks like you were able to watch the Departed earlier then expected.

Looks like the Braves returned the favor...

yeah, what a crazy day of baseball that was! I watched part of the departed, but I think the image I'm throwing up on the black out cloth is too large because it was kind of pixely (is that a word?). I need to resist the urge to go too huge. The 360 I can go bigger, but with this upconverting dvd player (it's a phillips cheapo from walmart) I can't go too big. That's ok, the image is still amazing
How big of an image, and how close are you sitting?

It may be a bad dvd player- I see absolutely no pixelation on dvds with my oppo 970.

Has anyone gotten 1:1 pixel mapping over VGA analog on the Mits HD1000?

it's the phillips 3960/37

It was the cheapest upconvert I could find. I'm researching right now to see if anyone else is having problems with it. I had it on full zoom at about 12.5 feet and sitting 10 feet away. The image was huge, not sure how big it was, but it looked kind of grainy. Also, besides overscan at 100%, is there a way to reduced the black bars on the top and bottom of the image in widescreen? I'm hoping I'm just doing some dumb stuff here such as sitting too close to a massive screen and there's a feature I'm missing, but I may have to consider the oppo
What kind of connection are you using from the phillips to the PJ?

PJ calculator says your screen is about 104 inches- I sit about 12 feet from a comprable screen size, and don't have an issue, so I would reccommend you move back a couple feet (try anywhere from 2-5) and if the problem doesn't go away, then either you are seeing something I'm not or you are sensitive to pixelation and I'm not. I'm not trying to say I see a perfect crystal clear image- I don't- but I wouldn't describe it as "pixellly."

As far as the black bars, go to one of the menus- i believe it is the second or third on- and the top option should be something like "aspect ratio" or "screen size." Try switching this from 16:9 (or whatever its on) to "real" and let me know if this helps.
I'd go into it but you'd all just get mad as usual so .......

I have it hooked up with an hdmi cable. I think maybe the cable may be junk, but I'm going to check out tonight with the Departed and try the aspect ratio change. Funny thing was I had the 360 dvd player hooked up via component at the same size and the image was bigger and way clearer! This leads me to believe that it is the aspect ratio. Will report...but first the sox game!
If you guys hate the projector so much how come I don't see any for sale on the forum? I hope I'm not going to join you guys on the hate hd1000u forum ,because i just bought one this weekend and I should get it tomorrow. However, I'm not pulling my barco data crt down before I run this projector thought the mill.
We don't hate it but it has its weaknesses. What do you expect for sub $1K PJ?

It's still the best (and I do mean the best) sub $1K PJ out there.

Exactly- my post (and I think a few others) weren't from "unhappy HD1000U owners" so much as they are from happy owners who have a couple of minor complaints.

No one can expect to spend $850 on a projector and have it be perfect- there wouldn't be such a market for higher end equipment if it was.
Has anyone experienced any lag due to the projector while playing games? If not, I imagine this projector would be awesome on my 360.
The only complaint I have is the lack of tint control.

Which really is my only complaint as well.
No stevej, i haven't although i haven't really played 360 on it (only gcn). My friend did hook his up... and let me just say 360 in 720p glory is AMAZING!

Only outputs through composite? Say it ain't so! Check to see if you have one of the later models where they dropped the component output. If not, you can get a component cable for it, but I don't know if Nintendo still sells it (you had to order directly from them). If you do have the stripped model, s-video might be an improvement.
