Are there any tuners similar to the HDHomeRun?

Meaning connected by Ethernet rather than needing an

expansion slot? (Might consider USB or Firewire, but the

cable length limit is a problem. Ethernet is the way to

go if possible.) I'm looking for something like the

HDHomeRun but with better reception.

The HDhomerun has very good reception. Comparable to some of my other devices, better than some others.

Isn't the reception dependent upon the antenna?

Very true. The way to see if it is the antenna or the HDHomeRun is to go directly from the antenna into the TV. If it is a bit better, there is something wrong with the HDHomeRun.

It's been my experience that the built-in tuners included with TV sets are better than most PC tuners. Besides, even if the fault lies with the HDHomeRun, a better antenna and/or better antenna placement would go a long way in alleviating reception problems.

It depends. My HVR-1250 tuner is more robust than my Samsung TV. And the CECB Zenith has better reception than both of them. Usually, newer tuners are better as they tends to do a better job in eliminating multi-path signals.
