You're just getting 2 channel stereo that way. If the thing will put out 5.1, depending on the source, you either need a coax or optical cable.

If I hook up my STB HD box to my AVR (onkyo 705) via analog (red&white) will I get surround sound 5.1 or do I need to connect it digitally, like with optical?
