Didn't really do much research before hand and bought a used mac mini. Turns out it will not display properly on my Panasonic TC-P54S1 Plasma. Not properly as in, 1 out of 6-8 times it will display as normal. When it does display, it will get fuzzy from time to time like when I would try to change resolution in system preference. Other times when screen will go black but audio from a dvd can still be heard. I used a DVI to HDMI cable.

I don't know what the problem is. My plasma TV? The graphic card on my mac mini? The wrong resolution setting on the mac?

The mac works perfectly fine with my 22' widescreen dell lcd monitor.

My mac mini is a PowerPC G4 1.42Ghz, 1 GB ram, 80GB HD, mac os x 10.5.8. Is this too slow or weak to serve as a HTPC?

What alternatives do you guys suggest for a person who primarily wish is to watch tons of movie from an external hard drive, stream movies from netflix, high quality DVDs, internet radio, music from ipod/itunes on my 54" plasma?
