I googled and found nothing, and really haven't seen much around the forums so...We are getting sporadic but consistent drops while playing, regardless of the game. We each will get a pop-up saying the other person has left the party chat, and we end up having to rejoin. It seems to happen no matter who hosts as well, so I don't know what to do. Thanks in advance.

/I know we can just use the game chat but the party chat is much better. They just need to streamline some of the menus.

I got this problem to but I have no idea what causes it. My only thought is packet fragmentation by your router. Supposedly live doesn't like that but I leave it on because at least in theory allows voip packets from skype to have priority.

I have had the same problem. I just use private chat instead.

You're not alone, I have the same issue when using it. I never brought it up since I figured it was just my connection, but now I'm wondering if the issue is more widespread.

Do you also get bumped out of your online game? This happens to me as well - I'll be in party chat, talking, when all of a sudden I see that a person has left the party, then I get bumped from the game and am in the party, and then finally the person leaves and I'm all alone - causing us to all have to rejoin again.

I haven't experienced any times where we were kicked from the game, but it does seem like we're getting lock-ups more often, though I don't know if they're related. And yeah, private chat is fine here too.

Same problem here. It's stable for a few games then one by one we're kicked out. I've also noticed when one drops out we're pretty much all booted.

On a side note I was having freezes when I would use the guide button in game to send invites and what not. I read on the net there is a problem with NXE and HDD's that are greater than half full. 120 gb from what I understand. I deleted some lesser played games to get below half full and it appeared to fix the problem. Thought I'd share that.

This happened to me the first time last night. I was playing Left 4 Dead with three friends when people consistently got booted from the party. The problem was that the chat was set to "party chat", not "game chat" and nobody could change it for some reason, so when one or more people got booted, we no longer could communicate inside the game, even though all 4 people were still playing. It was so frustrating, I eventually just ended the session and gave up.

Next time I am going to avoid the party system altogether and just play the damn game. I don't even understand why the party system was created. What's the big to-do?

Its a pretty widespread problem. Im sure they will fix it as more reports of the problem come in. I think its just one of those things that worked just fine when a few thousand people were testing but when the masses gets in on it,it creates a problem.

The Party chat feature has once again saved me from the unwashed mass that is LIVE...I cannot express how I would like to kiss a Microsoft engineer full on the mouth for coming up with this...

I do, however have drops, but it is intermittent. It is an annoyance, but not the end of humanity. you can usually guess when it's happening, how it's going to go. we usually run 4-5 on Gears...In private rooms,(clan etc...), I like to run everybody on the party, just be able to talk to the other players and give them sh!t ingame. (Unless we run all 10 of course...).

Evan S,

When people start dropping, you need to re-invite them, unless you "exit the party" altogether. I have gathered that even though your "notice" says "xxxx has left the party", it may infact be you that has been dropped. Or a couple have been dropped, and you may still be the only one in the party, in which case no one will be able to speak to the other, unless you all "exit" the party.

Actually the quickest way to go is have the people rejoin the original party when they drop. Just pull up friends list, highlight host's name, and press X - done. Far fewer screens/button presses....this also needs to be looked at imo. Lots of possibilities for streamlining some of the menu options.

Agreed, It seems there are more steps to get to the FL now than the previous blades...

And I can't seem to get directly to a friend that has just signed on...whereas before...somebody popped on...hit the control button and their card is right there...

For me, the huge bonus is being able to have more than 2 people in private chat. It was always annoying to have to be in public chat if I wanted to game with more than one other friend. Being able to have 3 or 4 people in a private chat is a huge plus.

Is everyone still having issues with this? It seems to be happening more frequently for me and my friends that play.

I switched to FIOS about a month ago, and decided to try and open up my NAT by port forwarding and setting up a DMZ for my 360.

Haven't tried it yet but wondering if anyone has found a fix? Or this is something we have to live with until MSFT updates it.

Party chat sucks. My theory is that is just requires too much bandwidth considering all the other things that are going on with your LIVE connection to your internet.

I avoid it like the plague.

I'm having the same problem. My friends and I routinely get dropped from parties but not from the games we're playing. We can add each other back into the party and continue the game as though nothing happened. Of course, then we'll get dropped from the party again 10 minutes later. We've gone back to using private chat.

I think the problem is extremely widespread. It happends everyday, reguardless of who hosts the party. It also seems to happen when there are more than 2-3 people in the party. It does not kick us from any games, it just is annoying to have to join up the party again. I am sure that they will patch that as well as patch the sluggishness of the dashboard when I try to access it from games (by pressing the big X button, the menus on the dashboard are slow).
