I know that AMD drivers have trouble in linux but i was wondering if the AMD E-350 APU paired with AMD Radeon HD 6310 can be considered stable enough to use with Ubuntu and or XBMC.


I've seen this guide to getting it running but havent seen any recent talk about it.

If you want to use it for video, no. None of the Radeon line have even decent video quality in Linux due to poor driver support.

For anyone search. I use the latest version of Ubuntu and it plays video at 99% I would say. Sometimes with really fast movement i will see some screen tearing but other then that its pretty good.

I just built a box around an E-350 and I'm very happy with it. As long as you control your source material you should be fine. I have played back 1080p content without a problem with the latest Catalyst drivers on Xubuntu 11.10 and XBMC. Others have talked about problems with interlaced media and I suppose the Bobcat cores could have a problem with that but as far as HW decoding with progressive media...no worries.
