I was looking at the supported cpu list on the GIGABYTE GA-MA785GM-US2H motherboard and came accross this.

AMD Phenom II X2 550 3100Mhz 512KBx2 6MB Callisto 45nm C2 80W 4000 F 1

AMD Phenom II X2 545 3000Mhz 512KBx2 6MB Callisto 45nm C2 80W 4000 -

AMD Athlon II X4 600e 2200Mhz 512KBx4 N/A Propus 45nm C2 45W 4000 F1

AMD Athlon II X3 405e 2300Mhz 512KBx3 N/A Rena 45nm C2 45W 4000 F1

AMD Athlon II X3 400e 2200Mhz 512KBx3 N/A Rena 45nm C2 45W 4000 F1

Notice the athlon II quad core running at 45 watts, should be an outstanding cpu for low heat and low energy. Its suppose to be coming out sometime before 2010. I would wait but newegg has the combo sale I've been waiting for. athlon II 3ghz w/GA-MA785GM-US2H. I swear its always hard to buy a computer when you see whats coming out next. Intel has the 32nm processors coming out before 2010 too, but know clue if they are going to make a low watt version or just toss on a cazilion more transistors.

Don't we all know...technology changes so fast these days, I wouldn't worry about buyer's remorse

Ok pulled the trigger, 65W cpu, onboard graphics, WD green HD, and 80plus power source. Should be pretty good on power usage I think. Tempted to buy a single stick of ram instead of dual channel to save even more juice. Anyone know how much power ram draws?

If you are going to use IGP, single channel memory is a bad idea (poor video playback performance, not to mention gaming performance).
