Right now I am powering this with an older JVC Prologic Receiver rated at 105w per channel from (40hz-20,000), so I suspect it is more like 75-80w over the full frequency response. I am unable to play it as loud as I would like without clipping from the receiver. I am looking to upgrade the amp in the next few months and am looking at two options, but am open to other suggestions.

Option 1 - Samsom S700 about $300 b-stock from SVS

Option 2 - Parts Express subwoofer amp $120-130

The downside to the parts express amp is I guess I would have to build some type of enclosure for it, but it does have a rumble filter, phase control and crossover. It also has less power (250 vs 300) and a higher distortion level.

Any suggestions?

Thanks

Go with the parts express amp! You will only see about a 1db increase with the Samson amp. I have the Samson amp on my dual cs+ package and love it but I got it as a gift. I don't think that the distortion on the parts express amp should be a big concern as it probably isn't going to be audible!

Any idea on what type of box/enclosure I would need to build to mount the amp?
