I'm looking for options for my HS-24 MKIII. It's going in an 11.5 ft^3 sealed cabinet for nearfield. Right now I'm using an NU12000 with a MINIDSP. Eventually the plan is to get two more HS-24s, but with dual 1 ohm coils to run off the NU12000. So eventually I'll need another amp to run the nearfield 24. I tried an NX6000, but it just wasn't strong enough. Maybe the EP4000?

Most seem to like the SP amps like the sp1-4000 or else they go to the clone amps. Why don't you want to continue using the NU12000? Those are not super expensive and could probably buy 2 more fo the cost of the sp1-4000. Just a thought for you.

I was constantly clipping my EP4k's, and that was on 18's...
A bridged FP14k is about 8x more powerful than a bridged EP4k.

I upgraded to almost a dozen FP's and haven't looked back. ;)

The sanway FP14k does 16kW @ 4ohms x1 burst according to NotNyt, and half that into two 2-ohm channels.
It then drops down towards 4kW x2 and then usually the breaker pops, or the amplifier reduces itself to 2x2kW and then the breaker pops; as that is about all the power you'll get out of a single 30A circuit...

The Smiths does slightly less burst but more RMS before the breaker pops.

I own the Sanway 14k, 10k and XBS 20k and 10k.

In the real world, powering actual woofers, I honestly can't tell any practical difference between the Sanway 14k and the XBS 20k. (Mostly because the cops are called well before the 100kW is clipped, and the woofers are flying apart at that point regardless. hehe! :p)

I used to be able to clip my system with ease, now I'm afraid to! :D

The drywall is flying apart, my ears are flying apart, the projector is flying apart. (NO! DON'T! STOP! HELP!) :D

I promise, by the time you get to a dozen FP's and 32 woofers (of any model)...
You is gonna need a Titanic rape-whistle! :D

Tarp, I'm confused - I thought you built a large ported cabinet for the HS24?
Good point. Ported does tend to decrease excursion, which may be seen as a weakening of performance, visually...

Trying to make the woofer pop out of the box will just cause chuffing or a melted coil.

It is well-known that the 24's (and larger woofers) like at least 4kW of power, regardless of what the whitepaper says.

With smaller cones, like UM-18's... you can usually bottom them out with relative ease, but all these 24's have like 100mm+ of xmech and MUCH heavier cones, so it takes a lot of juice to make them bottom out or even look like they are on. Which isn't necessarily a bad thing (unless you have a Steve Meade excursion-bling fetish. hehe! :p)

I did. This is another cabinet. The large ported cabinet is in the living room. That thing won't fit in the theater, so I'm building a smaller sealed cabinet to go behind the MLP. My wife wants me to turn the ported cabinet into a dresser for the bedroom. It's plenty big enough for that, and wouldn't be difficult to do.

For now I'll be using the NU12k. The plan is to get rid of all my NU6k amps and buy another NU12k. Just wondering if there's another amp that would work.

You need 2000 watts at 4 ohms or 1 ohm. Speakerpower only for 1 ohm. For 4 ohms you can buy the XBS 20k and have 3 channels left over for the future. You cab get a Crest pro lite 7.5 for two of them. So it depends on your future. I am going to try my Peavy IPR2 7500 which has a little less than the crest on my REs which are power whores. Once I get it up and running I will let you know. However, I probably won't be finished before you buy.
