room is 18x28.....rockets..750/200/300/300...i don't want to spend a lot on a mega receiver so i thought an amp added to a lower priced receiver would be better than a mega receiver....am i correct in this thinking. if so what amp would you suggest. something to run my fronts or backs?
I wouldn't recommend a receiver only for the pre outs. You'll end up with a bunch of amps you paid for and are not using. Many will use their existing receiver for a pre-pro if the amp is an after-thought, but as a rule don't purchase a receiver for that purpose. The receivers you mentioned aren't cheap and you should be able to find a nice dedicated pre-pro either new or used for the same cost.
