I got an AmPRo 2600 in on trade recently. Really nice shape, etc. I was kind of excited, as the only other one of these sets that I had had little 7" EM focusing tubes, and you could really dial this thing in. Well, THIS one uses the standard 07MS tubes. ES focusing, no focus output board, etc.

BUt the remote display says AmPRo 2600, the back serial number also says it's a 2600.

What the heck?

Did AMPRo change the guts of the set 1/2 way through production?

Very strange...

Curt,

The 2600 was always a ES unit, much like the 2000. You probably had a model 2300. That was Ampro's first stab at magnetic focus. It was a 7" unit.
