If this is a stupid question then I can't

help it. I want to know the answer so am willing to

show my ignorance.

Here's what I don't understand. When using my HTPC and I want

to run higher resolutions the horizontal frequency

increases. And I understand that the hor freq is equal

to the vertical x 1.05 x the refresh rate. For example, if I'm

at 1280 x 720 and at 120hz refresh my horizontal scanning freq

is about 90Khz.

BUT 1080i HD, even though it is 1920 x 1080 at 60hz refresh,

has a horizontal frequency rate of only 31.5Khz and not

the 68Khz that would result from the above equation.

How am I looking at this wrong?

1080i HD is interlaced which = 33.75khz.

You're thinking about 1080p?
