Okay, I've posted about this before but just now I've realized that all of my analog channels are grainy while my digital channels are looking good.

Now, I've tested the line by hooking up a regular TV to the cable line and the analog channels look great, but thye look grainy on my HDTV. Any thoughts?

How do I clean this noise up? I have mentioned in a previous post that I believe I did a crummy job of stripping and crimping some of the coax going to the TV. I'm guessing this is the problem... but could there be anything else?

You can try re-doing your cables, but it's more likely that the problem lies with your cable company. How far you are from the cable company determines how many times the signal gets amplified, and each time it's amplified, a little bit of noise is introduced into the signal.

One of the biggest disappointments that many people have when they first get an HD set is how bad the picture they've been watching on their old sets really is.

My old cable company would visit, check signal strengths, and redo coax connections and splitters, for a very reasonable charge.

But first you might try redoing that one coax feed that you suspect.

I had a motorola 5100 box with timewarner cable and the picture on the analog cable was between bad and unwachable. The digital and HD looked great. I replaced all of the cables and the motorola box, and the results were the same. I finally went to sat since at least all of the channels looked good.
