Analog interconnections

I have a Denon DVD-3910 and a Denon AVR 3805. I connnected the two with the Denon Link but after going back and forth between the DACs in the player and the receiver I actually prefer the sound of both redbook cds and multi channel SACD's using the analog outputs of the 3910. My question is can I just use the multichannel outputs for redbook cd playback or should I still connect the R and L outputs of the player to the receiver? I am trying to not buy more cables than I need. I wasn't sure if there was a benefit of the R and L outputs for standard playback.

With my Denon 2900, I play back CD, DVD-A, and SACD all through the 6-channel analog out. The 2900 can handle all of the bass management and speaker distances for all those formats, so my receiver is just an amp with a volume control.

Using the L/R in addition to the multichannel probably allows you to have different configuration settings for the L/R input. Maybe useful, maybe not.

If you are liking the sound of the player's analog outputs then you would want to be sure the L/R inputs have a true analog bypass or else you are back to using the receiver's DAC(s).
I agree. I am not sure on my AVR 3805 if it has room eq and bass man. on the multi channel inputs. Also on the L & R inputs I will need to run the reciver in direct or pure direct mode to have analog bypass.
