So I have been happy with a 3 speaker setup for some time now (left/right/center) but my uncle was cleaning out his garage and was going to be tossing an old Sony subwoofer. Since I did not have a sub, I decided that I would take it home and plug her in. To my dismay it seems as if this was either a proprietary setup or just even older than my receiver (which is over 6 years old itself). What it looks like to me, is that the sub only accepts RCA inputs while my receiver only accepts a Monaural connection. I didn't have my camera handy so I ripped some images off the web to show you exactly what I m facing. Any suggestions to getting this working or is this just trash? Thanks

Basically you would connect the Sub out on your Receiver to the 'L' input. The 'stereo' RCA input is there to add flexibility for receivers that do not have a dedicated LFE out but Stereo Pre-outs. On your reciever you may have to make some adjustments like enabling sub output.

thanks for the help, unfortunately I think this sub is busted (very loud rattling from the speaker). Oh well it was a freebie anyway
