I can't believe that our Justice System is going to allow this blatant violation of our right to privacy. If this ruling stands, shouldn't every video tape sent by mail from a private home also be inspected for content.

If you mean all the movie and television content providers. Good luck getting an effective boycott going.


Also, I might point out boycotting such companies would effectively make the replay tv, and the ultimatetv useless.


A more effective plan would be to try and get the ruling and the idiotic interpretation of copyright laws changed and removed.

Even though they would probably like it, I doubt that all of them are directly behind it. By sending a message to them or at least the principle players (e.g. Disney) this could be stopped before it turns ugly.

When vcr's came out, the same hubub was raised by Hollywood. It would be the death of movies and commercial tv. Doesn't seem to have done too much damage

And many VCRs have had the 30 second skip. I think they may have opened up a can of worms with the feature that can send recordings.

Agreed. That feature just shouts content theft. Anything beyond being able to share recordings on a local network shouldn't be allowed.
