Okay, Release Candidate 2 is ready.

There are quite a few changes to the code (as you can see from the EXE being quite a bit bigger).

ZP Should now support unicode filenames in every which way (display/playlists/loading/drag&drop/etc...). This was very difficult to do and required a lot of small code changes throughout the entire codebase. Hopefully nothing was overlooked (let me know if it has).

There are also a lot of tweaks, fixes and improvements which are listed below. For the full change list since v2.90 open up the whatsnew.txt file that comes within the archive.

Here is the change list since v3.00 RC1:

Code:
Code:
* Zoom Player now support MMS Audio Streaming (mostly used by radio
stations). This support includes a Radio Station Manager (press
"X" on the keyboard to open).

 * You can now save general-purpose Skin Tinting Profiles. These
are accessible through the Skin Selection dialog. I've even made
   a few default profiles.

 * New "Export Settings" button on the options dialog allows you
to export the current Zoom Player settings into a windows registry
file of your choice. To re-import the settings at a later date,
you can simple double click on the file with Zoom Player closed
and the settings will be restored.

 * New Setting (Options / OSD / Actions) allowing you to disable the
background skinning of the Pop-Up OSD.

 * The association dialog now allows you to manually select the
   icons of associated file extensions.

 * You can now have the source resolution show up within the Timeline.
Middle click the timeline to enable this feature.

 * New "Hide File Extension" setting for the Play List Editor
(Options / Values / Play List).

 * You can now associate the ".AVS" (AVISynth Script Format) extension.

 * Holding Ctrl or Alt with their respective settings to drag the
window/video will change the mouse cursor to indicate this.

 * The "Customized" Graphless DVD Playback mode now gives better feedback
as to which component failed when building a Graph.

+ The ZPL play list format has changed. The same structure remains,
except that it is now a UNICODE file format. So unicode file names
   should save and load properly.

+ The Color Control interface is now more "spacious" (showing a bit
more of the background and spreads more as the viewing area is
   scaled to higher resolutions).

+ The Overlay Color setting for "Brightness" Range has been changed
   from "0 to 10000" to "-10000 to 10000".

+ Switching audio tracks will now always show an OSD Message, even if
there is only one audio track (will show the current audio track).

+ Switching DVD Angles or OGM Video Tracks will now always show an
   OSD Message.

+ Switching Subtitle tracks will now always show an OSD Message. If
none is available, this will be indicated.

+ New skin code now allows you to gradient shade the play list
   horizontally in addition to vertically.

+ The DrawExText function has been expanded to allow you to shade or
outline the text using any color you want.

+ Frame Advance on Pause is once again optional.

+ The overlay color control uses a little bit less display area.

 - Zoom Player should no longer steal focus when using an overlay
   surface to play videos.

 - You can now use command line parameters to save the Window position
   to a negative off-screen value.

 - The "Options / DVD / Auto AR / Stop Sets Video Position" setting
got accidentally enabled in one of the previous beta versions and
has caused a lot of confusion. I've reset it now so that this
build uses a different registry key to remember the setting so that
it now gets disabled on all systems by default.

 - The Chapter Navigator now works properly with OGM chapters again.

 - Fixed a crash with the DVD Bookmark loading dialog crashing after
   the 10 second timeout.

 - Fixed a few OSD Pop-Up skin corruption issues when switching from
   fullscreen to windowed mode.

 - Fix for a small skin display bug involving auto-sizing.

 - Fixed a few issues dealing with maximize and settings that changed
the window size when loading a new video.

 - When exiting from fullscreen, the system screensaver should now
   be restored correctly.

 - When taking away associations from another application, The
"keep current icon" setting should now be more reliable.

 - Skins that do not contain Timeline Font-Outline information will
now have no outline to preserve compatibility with older skins.

 - Going backward frames in DVD Mode has been disabled as DirectShow
doesn't really allow it and it was only causing weirdness.

Wow! Thanks Blight! That was fast!

Can I request another feature please. I would like to be able to allow the screensaver to activate in DVD mode when it is in the state MENU or PAUSE, either they system screensaver or just a blank screen with a definable wait duration would be great.

That way those of us with CRT projectors won't have to worry about falling asleep and having a menu up all night hehe, or someone pausing playback and forgetting to return to the movie.

Three things:

1. Player Options / Information / About still says "RC1"

2. Can you put the previous 2.9-era skin back as an optional skin? I know I mentioned this before but the new skin's buttons are too small to see on a regular TV display.

3. What happened to the option to make the control bar re-appear (while in full-screen) by moving the mouse to the bottom? I don't see it listed anymore in Player Options / Settings / Interface.

Thanks for a great program!

Maybe someone can answer me this, why is it say under WinDVD I don't have a problem with stutters (I wouldnt call it the micro-judders) but using the same filters via Zoom Player I do? I can insert Reclock and make them go away, but this introduces other wierd things and delays/drifting for other movies? It appears that I get the same behaviour via Graphedit as well, odd.

Krynos:

The internal screen saver works like that (Options/Values/Interface).

sdsalsero:

It moved to the controlbar context menu (to make it more relavent I guess).

I'll release the previously default skin as a skin on deskmod .

The RC1 remaining there is a typo... forgot to edit the string, no biggy.

pdermody:

the windvd player doesn't use its own filters or even directshow when playing back dvd/mpeg content.

Trying to follow up on a comment in the previous thread....

Been looking for the pop up control bar on mouse movement setting... You said it was "Show Control Bar on Mouse Movement in the control bar context menu"... I must be being dumb but where is the context menu for this...

I can set left mouse click to make it the context menu in 'settings -> mouse toggles' but cant find the control bar context menu anywhere... Throw me a bone can ya...

Also should note that the mouse dissapears when player options window is open... You can see the mouse arrow on the overlay but it hides when over the options window.

Phat Phreddy:

You right click the control bar buttons, or middle click (mouse wheel click) the timeline ... I would have thought it would be more intuative to put the control bar related features on the control bar... Maybe I can mirror on the Control Bar section of the options dialog.

I'm not sure what you mean by the mouse not appearing in the options dialog. Can you retrace the exact steps required for that to happen?

OK thats great... I was trawling all the settings and options but the Rt click on the bar was what I was missing...

Bug still there with menu bar popping up over other windows when playing in the background... EG ZP running windowed... Control bar onscreen... Video playing... At the 'next chapter' mark the menu bar appears over any other window that you may be working in.... Not a big deal as why run a movie in the background...

Hi, Blight,

I have a small problem with resizing under XP.

For an anamorphic PAL DVD a Window Size of 1024*576 would be optimal for 1:1 pixel mapping, if the window is 16:9 or 1024*768 if the window is 4:3. Am I correct here?

When the option "Auto Size user interface to maintain Video Aspect Ratio" is not checked and I press Alt+2 to get 100% zoom, then with Win98 I get a 4:3 window with 720*576 (I estimate).

When this option is checked I get a 16:9 window with 1024*576.

This is the way it should be.

But with XP when I press Alt+2 with the option checked the window is much larger (maybe 1200 pixels wide), so it is not 1:1 pixel mapping.

If I go fullscreen everything is fine even with XP, so this is not a big thing, just for testing with ffdshow etc. it is a little bit annoying.

And I would very much appreciate offline help screens.

Thanks,

Guenther

Many thanks for the quick reply, but I do not understand it.

What should I do to get 1:1 mapping?

576*16/9=1024 and this is what I get under Win98 with Alt+2 (and this option checked). Am I wrong? Or does this happen by chance and Alt+2 is not meant to work like this?

Thanks,

Guenther

Blight, is right-clicking the Control Bar the only way to edit it's options? This seems like inconsistent "interface design". The majority of settings are in the Player Options, so shouldn't *all* of them be accesible there? It's great having more than one method but it's really confusing to have separate Player Options, Dialogs, and object right-click. Until these recent 3.0-RC versions came out, I didn't even know about the last two!

Ok, I did a search for this like no other first but I couldn't seem to find anything.

Is there a way to add in a feature to autoplay DVD's when putting a dvd in the drive with Zoomplayer. I lost my I-net over the weekend and just started playing around with Zoomplayer and have fallen in love with it.

Hey Blight,

As a person who donated to ZP, where do I stand with this new edition?

I'm currently running something that's perhaps 2 versions back or so and I recon it's working perfectly so maybe I shouldn't care regardless. I'm just curious. I assume lots of people are in the same boat that I'm in having used ZP for a long time and having donated and now it's a different type of payment that's required.

I think it's great that you charge for it now because it's great software and you should be paid when people use it.

sdsalsero:

I'm, going to duplicate the settings under the control bar settings in the options dialog (renaming button bar to control bar).

stgdz:

Options / Settings / Toggles / On CD Insert (if ZP is already running) ...

and DVD / DVD Tools / DVD Auto-Start Program (To run ZP if it isn't running)

Brian:

See PM.

Hi Blight,

I also have the same question as Brian. I've 'donated' to you for ZP before. Twice. I'm happily using 3.0 (beta 5.5 I believe.) I was waiting to see how you answered Brian’s question but since you answered via PM, could you also do the same for me?

Thanks-

Dave

I've been reading so many messages about ZP that I.ve got overload, so hopefully someone can answer one question.

Is it possible yet to pass DD or DTS throgh S/PDIF yet? I have M-Adio 2496 card and have WinDVD PowerDVD and Cinemaster. Also have ATI 9700 Pro.

Thanks

George
