While I planned on releasing the Final this sunday, the code change has simply been to big so I want to make sure stability is ok before 3.00 is out the door.

As you can see from the list below, there are actually some major features here, like the Color Control support for VMR9, support for DMO filters in DVD Customized mode and ... wait for it ... BLOODY DAMN ICON NAVIGATION FOR THE FILE ASSOCIATION.

I swear, if someone makes an icon request, he's going to get hurt! I probably spent over 12 hours doing the new icon association/navigator code, way too much for such a feature. Bug reports are fine though... I haven't tested if the new icon code works under Win9x/ME, and the feature to navigate icon libraries is not officially supported by microsoft under that OS, so someone please make sure it works.

For the full change list, see "whatsnew.txt" in the archive, Here is the change list since RC2:
Code:
Code:
* Support for VMR9 ProcAmp (Color Controls). These integrate into
the same control as the overlay color controls. Unlike the overlay
color controls, the ranges are different and reported by the card
itself, so it's more accurate. Also, the card reports which color
controls it supports and only these will be active. There is no
gamma support (don't know why, ask Microsoft).

Due to the different ranges, you should reset the default values
for the color control. There is also a new button on the color
control options dialog allowing you to fetch the default values
for the VMR9 color controls if a video is currently playing.

 * Customized DVD Playback now supports inserting Audio and Video
DMO Effect Components. I've created presets for all the effects
I had installed on my system, including all the ones from
Intervideo (such as TimeStretch and Downmixing).

I've noticed that not all decoders can support DMOs properly,
for example, CyberLinks' decoder doesn't support the intervideo
Video DMOs, but its audio decoder seems ok with the Audio DMOs.

 * You can now adjust the merit on your audio devices using the
new Audio Manager (Options / Manual Filter). Works the same
as the Registered Filter Manager, just for audio devices.

 * New DVD Setting (Options / DVD / DVD Settings).
"Adjust DVD Aspect Ratio for 4:3 display" used to be always on,
now you can turn it off if need be. When disabled, Zoom Player
will no longer compensate for the DVD Aspect Ratio to match it
   to 4:3 displays.

 * The Skin Gradient functions can now be applied to the Play List,
   Control Bar and OSD Pop-up.

 * The Tray Icon now supports unicode hints.

 * New "fnPLMax" function allowing you to maximize the Play List
window (as long as it's not docked to the main window).

 * New "fnLoadDF" function allowing you to manually load a definition
file for the currently playing Media or DVD. If the Media or DVD
does not have a definition file, but a default file is specified
in the options dialog, it will be loaded instead.

 * New "/MAX" command line parameter to start Zoom Player Maximized.
I've also updated the "Start Player In" toggle to allow for this.

+ When associating a new icon, you can now pick EXE/DLL/ICO/ICL
   nested icons.

+ Play List clicks react the same as toggles set to the main window.

+ The Media Library Editor now supports unicode directories and
category names. The Library file has been renamed from
"zplayer.lib" to "zplayer.library" to prevent crashes as the
new library format is in unicode. If you would like to convert
the files, use a unicode capable editor (such as UltraEdit) to
cut & paste from the old file (make sure the new file is unicode).

+ All the Control Bar settings are now duplicated on the control bar
context menu and the control bar section within the options dialog.

 - External Audio Track support got all freaky.

 - DVD Discs should now be able to load the Default Definition File
if one was specified in the options dialog (and the disc didn't
have a previously generated definition file).

 - Mouse Cursor no longer hides if the options dialog is opened.

 - Fixed a unicode issue that didn't allow you to open files under
   a unicode directory name.

 - Fixed a couple of unicode glitches in the filter properties list.

 - Fixed possible conflicts between definition files and non-english
   versions of windows.

 - You can now disable the "Bold" setting on the OSD fonts.

 - Hiding the file extension in the play list editor would cut the
   play list item names improperly.

 - The Fullscreen to Zoom and Fullscreen to Max had their bitmap
switched on the default skin (oops!).

 - The Associated icon display now properly shows icons associated
to ".ico" files. The reason this doesn't work is due to misleading
text in the Windows SDK (yay!).

Quick question. I'm still using rc 1 so if this has changed just let me know.

Is there a way to change the splash screen from white to black? When watching a dark dvd, that white splash screen will almost blind you when stop the disk. :)

Just make another image called "dvdimage.bmp" and "mediaimage.bmp" and put them in the zoomplayer directory (I think thats the name of the files)

Hey presto - custom backdrop.

Dammit:

Blinding you is the point. People complained that when they stop playback the room was too dark and they'd stumble in the dark, hence... bright BG image. But as Krynos said, you can switch the files.

I guess you can't win no matter you do when you're a programmer. :)

I'll make a new image. Thanks for the tip.

I want to say thanks for this program. I've just recently just started using it on my HTPC and it's great. Your work is much appreciated. I'm seeing just a couple of minor issues so far:

1. Zoomplayer steals focus sometimes when another window is in front of it and it goes to the next file in the playlist. It happens often but is erratic, sometimes it doesn't do it, sometimes the whole player pops up, sometimes just the playlist, and sometimes it stays behind but you still lose focus on whatever is in front of it.

2. Zoomplayer doesn't want to automatically start playing whatever is in the playlist for me when it's started. I can't swear that it never has, but as I'm trying it now it just won't do it.

Are you using RC3? I swear I fixed that focus thing!

As for the play list. you want ZP to automatically start playing whatever is in the play list when it loads? If so you'll have to add "/media /play" to the command line parameter shortcut.

If you mean clicking on a file in explorer doesn't start playback, try re-associating the files.

I guess the Catalyst drivers do not support color controls via VMR9.

I have noticed something else, when I use VMR9 and the WinDVD filters, if I pop anything on top of it, ie a right-click to pull up options the video playing will freeze, albeit audio is fine. This does not occur with say the Sonic decoders. Anyone else seen this or am I smoking some pretty good crack?

I can also echo that if ZP is playing and minimized at chapter stops the control bar (and any blanking) jumps to the foreground...

Blight!

Without a doubt this is the best software I've purchased, and it's not even final.

Whenever I dive into the doc's I find another Oh WOW feature!

Thanks is an understatement,

I just downloaded Zoom Player 3.0. I like the way it guided me to pick my audio and video filters of choice.

I've got a problem now. I exited and then re-entered the program and it appears to have lost all my filter settings. The Video and Audio Decoder lists are now empty.

Is there a way of getting rid of registration, etc. information so I can start over from the beginning?

Thanks

THANK YOU Blight!

Billy:

Those filter listings are actually text files under the zoom player directory (DVDAutoGraph sub dir), if you execute ZP from a directory that doesn't contain that sub-dir, the filters will not be listed.

Anyone tried playing with the new DMO filters? Anyone have any useful DMO filters they have registered with their system which are not listed in ZP? (not like gargle or other demo DMOs).

I cyled through the InterVideo DMO's, pretty neat. EXP has a lot of sound options that I am sure ppl will appreciate. Trying to figure out what refine actually does for me, the rest I can easily see (negative/abstract/vintage)

Pretty cool though.

Blight,

Great job.

How can I increase the size of icons for dvd playback. ie. play, FF, RW etc.
