Just got my RTV-3030 yesterday.


Got through the setup last night at around 9:30. Sat down, went through the program guide, setup a bunch of program title based themes (find the program in the guide->find all shows->Create "foo" channel), most of them non-guaranteed.


10:00 rolls around. It doesn't start recording Red Dwarf (one of the themes I'd setup). I hit RECORD, and it seems to work that way manually.


I cancel the manual record, and force a net connect to download 3.0. That finished around 11:50.


12:00 rolls around. It doesn't start recording Homicide, another theme.


Ok, what's up, guys? I realize that both shows were non-guaranteed, but there were no conflicts in the scheduling I set up. For some reason, the box just ain't recording...

OK, this is strange...


I just got my 3060 today. (and after the nightmare I had with UPS over failing to deliver it yesterday, that's a miracle in itself) Got it all set up, of course it's loaded with 2.1... not a problem. I've got time. I'll let it dial up tonight and get the zones, then maybe I'll force a connection tomorrow and see if I can get it to pull down 3.0 while I'm at the female's place for Thanksgiving (her parents actually, but that's beside the point).


I programmed in some of the stuff I usually guarantee and set up some ng themes to catch some other stuff... no dice. It's not recording the themes...


???


It's doing fine with guaranteed recordings, but the theme I tested didn't fly...


I don't think I messed with themes on my 2020 until I'd had it for probably a month.


Come on guys, any hints?

Just an update. After the unit updated to 3.0 last night, themes appear to be working OK.

I would love to know why certain folks like myself can't get the 3060 to download 3.0. I have forced over a dozen downloads and it says 100% for new sofware and then 50% finishing up and reboots with 2.1 still installed.


Did you do anything special to get the 3.0?

I didn't really do anything "special". I did force a connection after the initial setup that brought down the Zones. Then it took 2 more forced connections to pull down 3.0.


One note: I have always been able to get very good v.90 connections from the modem on my PC. The 3060 (with a v.90 modem in it) appears to have pulled down 3.0 MUCH faster than the 2020 did. It would be nice if I had some kind of indication of what the connect speed actually is.
