Here's the deal, 4504. I start watching (from beginning) a show that is currently recording, say about 15 minutes into the show. With the CA I guess I start catching up to the show, because the commercials stop skipping near the end of the show. Is this normal? The reason I question is because I know that I'm at least a couple minutes behind the live broadcast. I was just wondering what criteria it uses so I start timing the watching best.


Also, I have noticed a couple of times that when I do fully catch up with a show that there seems to be a glitch, as in the video skips a bit when it transitions from playing back recording to going live. Normal?

I've never seen the glitch on my 4040, but the other behavior you describe is normal. Commercial advance has to be able to see both sides of the break to skip, so if you're not delayed more than 2 or 3 minutes, it won't work. I've found 9 minutes per half hour is pretty safe if you want to watch close to live TV.

The unit won't skip commercials in the first 2 nor last 2 minutes of a show.
