im sure these get old, but the last PC i built was a mid-level gaming rig, in the core2duo days - so HTPC with the newer stuff is a bit confusing for me.

purpose:

playing movies via HDMI (SD to 1080P) from an external HDD

emulation (NES, SNES, up to PSX/Dreamcast perhaps)

no "real" gaming

no 3D

fairly simple requirements i think. so, on to the parts...

Case: Xion micro-ATX w/ 300w PSU http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811208054

MOBO: Gigabyte GA-F2A88XM-D3H http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00FU829ZQ/ref=ox_sc_act_title_4?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=ATVPDKIKX0DER

CPU: AMD A6-6400K http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00CPLGFM4/ref=ox_sc_act_title_3?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=ATVPDKIKX0DER

RAM: Mushkin 2x2GB DDR3 1600 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820226285

HD: Sandisk 64GB SSD http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B007ZWLRSU/ref=ox_sc_act_title_1?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=A2WTVCOLVN15GP

thoughts? concerns? i planned on getting everything but the ram and case from amazon as they seem to have the best prices.

i appreciate any and all input!

A 64GB SSD will fill up pretty quick. If you can at all, try to budget for at least a 120-128GB SSD.

Also, I would budget for a new PSU. Something like the Corsair CX430 frequently can be had for as little as $20 after rebate from NewEgg when on sale.

Other than that, everything seems fine.
