I have been looking at so many web page, I am starting to get a headache. If anyone has any information/thoughts/suggestions to share, I would be very greatfull. I am looking to replace my Onkyo 402. I want something with 7.1, HDMI repeaters (as in no need for seperate audio cable), phone input would be nice, and supports all the current decoding. I have a projector, PS3, HD cable box, and a popcorn hour Networked Media Tank. I would like to stay around that $800 - $1000 range. So far I have looked at

Sony 2400ES

Onkyo 706

Pioneer VSX-01TXH

I feel since I have had zero problems with my current Onkyo, that I should stick with them. But I have seen the overheating threads. I like the Sony because of the GUI menu and the phono input, but that isn't a deal breaker. I looked at the Pioneer due to other people's suggestions on this forum.

Any advice? Any other receivers I should look at?

Marantz Sr6003 (or 5003) but not sure about phono input. Yamaha RX663 or 863 also.

Thanks for the info. I put what I had and the new suggestions in a spreadsheet. Did I miss any important information? Anything wrong? Really looking for the most bang for the buck and something that will last for a long time, in build quality and in features.

Thanks again.

I'd look at the street prices rather than the MSRP. Also, with a PS3 as your BD source (using its internal decoding capabilities) you could save some money and/or get a higher-end unit by going with an older receiver that handles LPCM over HDMI, but doesn't decode TrueHD and DTS-MA. A good example might be the Marantz SR7001, available for $600 refurbished from accessories4less.com

In the $800-$1000 range shop around for an Onkyo TX-SR876. You should be able to get one in the upper end of your range. The Reon video processing may be somewhat redundant because of your HD sources, but you might find use for it anyway.

I have the JVC-RX-8020 receiver as well and I love it and I do not want to have to get a new receiver just to have HDMI, although if I were to get one of would get the onkyo 606. anyway, I maybe buying a panny PZ85 and was wondering how you have your JVC A/V set up since it does not have HDMI inputs???
