OK, Here's the deal. I apologize in advance for a post like this, but I just can't wrap my head around all the info and choices. Here's what I want/need:
I have the Oppo upconverting DVD player for regular DVDs my parents like to watch.
I have the PS3 for blu-ray DVDs.
Currently, I'm running video from both Oppo and PS3 via HDMI straight to my TV.
The audio is being handled optically into the receiver (Yamaha RX-V659.)
Now, I've picked up enough to know that I should want HDMI handling audio and video through the receiver, for PCM/TruHD etc etc.
So, what receiver do I want that can handle true HDMI audio and is not just a switcher?
Please, any help would be much appreciated.
