Another Newb Question-Audio Out of Sync

372 Views 6 Replies 5 Participants Last post by  zvogt
Not sure if this is the right forum to post this, but here goes. Prior to purchasing my Toshiba HM94 I vaguely remember reading here about audio being out of sync with the picture, i.e lips are moving out of sync with the sound. Unfortunately I don't remember how to fix this issue or what causes it Can someone please explain? It can't just be my DVD player because it occurs when watching satellite TV as well.

Is this in HD/Progressive mods only or also in SD?
HD/Progressive. Actually I just purchased the HK 635 receiver which I hope will help resolve this problem.
My onkyo has a setting to delay video some ms so it is synced, apparently its a big enough problem to get a bit of buffer memory added to the receiver.

Onkyo TX-SR703
What are your sources and how are you gettting the audio? I can tell you that if you still have the problem after you connect your receiver it's either the source or your set.
Many receivers will allow you to set an audio delay. Some video processors like the DVDO iScan HD/+ & VP30, Key Digital Leeza and Hanna, NEC TheaterSync (aka Silicon Optix) will allow you to adjust audio delay in microseconds to resolve this issue.

**Nitpick** I believe the adjustment is milliseconds (1,000ths of a second),

not microseconds (1,000,000ths of a second).
