Sorry for another been there done that thread however I can use your advice.

The room size is 14x20x8 and opens up to the kitchen. I have the Energy RC-Micro 5.0 speakers with the Onkyo TX-NR-717. I am looking for a subwoofer as my are needs

70% movies, 20% music and 10% gaming. I would like to get you though on these on thee below. My budget on the high end is about $400.00.

Keep in mind the frequency response of the Energy Micros are Sat: 150Hz-23kHz so I am particular of the specs.

This is a list I came up with below but if there are others that are better please let me know.

Energy ESW-M8 NA 1200-Watt Subwoofer

Acoustic Audio HD-SUB12 Black 12" Home Theater Powered Subwoofer

Outlaw Audio M8 Powered Subwoofer

Lava 12 Inch Powered Subwoofer - LSP12

If you act quickly you might get one of these http://www.amazon.com/Infinity-Classia-PSW310BK-Subwoofer-Radiators/dp/B001C4EDDS/ref=dp_cp_ob_e_title_0 . I just picked up a pair in cherry at a slightly better price. These come with a wireless transmitter, too, for more placement options (maybe, depending on locations of power outlets). You can get an Energy 10.3 usually for a good price, too (and I'd rather have that than the M8). It would be nice if you had more range in your sats, too but then I guess that would go along with a bigger budget overall...

Those look nice I will look into this further. The reason why I can't use the Energy's is that it goes up to 120hz. not 150Hz.

Hello Gondey99, maybe I can help as I had some experiance with a couple of brands that you have listed. My room is 15x25x9 with open area to kitchen in back as I am running dual's now.... trust me, helps out alot!! Anyhow, I would suggest getting one sub for now and then when time & money allow get another one. I started off with a Bic PL_200 ( much better than then H-100 listed thou). I then added another Pl-200 as that helped out with the bass as it filled the room in. I then purchased a PA-150 as I read uopn a report so I tried it... wow, much better performace than dual Pl's. I since sold the Bic PL-200's and bought an Outlaw EX on sale the last time... love that too
! But the Outlaw EX is out of your price range so I would suggest the PA-150. It not that the Pl-200's were than bad but I could tell the differnace well enough between dual Pl's and the PA-150. THe Pl-s are about half the size of the PA-150 and the PA-150 weighs more than two Pl's. Its listed that the PL-200 weighs about 50lbs.... BS, about 35 lbs. THe PA-150 is listed at 80lbs as I can pretty much assure it does. THe PA series is well better bulit than the Bic as well. The Only somewhat down side to the PA's is it does not have a detachable power cord and is about a ft shorter is all. THe outlaw I have weighs the same as the PA-150 but is a bit bigger even, so if placement size is an issue you may want to look into the sizes. As far as performace goes the Outlaw EX diggs depper at the 18-30 range but when around 35hz and up the PA-150 will keep up just fine.

PA-150

You can get a better price than whats listed.... but you just have to contact them is all.

Good luck!!

^^^^^^^

I would agree with this. I had dual PA-120 (the little bro) and I assure you that it looks and perform above what the price would lead you to think. I sold one but keeping one just "in case"
.

My room is 3600ish cubic feet, listening position at around 10feet and it was shaking the couch and the light fixture with relative ease.

cheers

Thanks all for the recommendations, appreciate the help on this. The PA150 is very nice but it does not look "wife friendly" and coming in around 80 pounds, it is a beast and I am not too sure I can pull that one off.

I am not the true HT person I once was having retired my Carver CT-17/TFM-25 and Luxman gear with Energy 22 floor standing speakers; etc....yikes I fell old........wait, I am

I am considering the PA 150 as it has great specs. I will still need to look at others and I will pull the trigger by this Tuesday.

Someone threw these two at me
