I just got a 1209s to replace my Dwin and am already stumped.

The lenses on the projector say HD10. I was told by the seller they are HD10GT17 lenses..... (I don't know how to tell). The Barco manual only gives throw distance formulas for the HD120, 180 and 300 lenses. Barco has a lens program that gives throw distances for various lenses but says the widest screen you can use for HD10L lenses is 74.8 inches and won't give any info on screens wider than that. My screen is a 16x9 107 inches wide.

So I'm confused. I was told the HD10 lens will work fine with my screen, but I can't find any info on what the throw distance should be.

Can someone give my some insight on what the differences are between HD10 lenses, how you can tell which one you have, and assuming these lenses will work for my screen, what's the formula for the throw distance?

Thanks,

John

Ok, this is going to be harder than I thought. :(

Someone suggested I go into the geometry and set the horizontal width by looking through the green lens. Use a test disk set for a 16/9 test pattern and adjust the width until it's close to the green tube edge. Then move the projector back and forth to fill the screen.

First dumb question. Would I find this test pattern in Avia, DVE, or something similar.

Second dumb question. Do I do this through my scaler, or directly to the projector.

I'd appreciate any help.

Thanks,

John

Doesn't need to be a test pattern - any 16:9 source will do - just find a fully lit scene in a DVD and press pause - you want to see the corners.

Do it however you wish to run the pj.
